The ton has no idea that in their midst are spies posing as governesses tasked with discovering Victorian upper society’s secrets and crimes. A serial killer is on the loose, preying on London prostitutes, and there is a suspicion that the murderer is from the upper class. Emily and Zach’s paths keep crossing as they get closer to discovering the killer’s identity. She must decide whether to join forces with him to solve the case and, perhaps, more dangerous, risk falling in love.
Fast-paced, fun, and sexy, this new series is off to a good start. The dialog feels modern, but period-appropriate details capture the era’s feel. Perfect for those who enjoy a steamy romance mixed with mystery and a strong heroine who doesn’t need saving.
