Balfour and the Cargo of Innocence

Review by Angela Simmons

In this new addition to Balfour’s adventures we encounter Myles and his crew setting sail for Saint Domingue, where the ship is targeted by an evil no one on board could imagine. In a remote French colony where rebellious slaves live under the crushing grip of forced labor, Balfour finds that he and his crew must fight until the end to protect their cargo. We see political intrigues come into play as Balfour devises new strategies to protect his crew and his ship. When an attractive widow is added to the mix, Balfour finds that he cannot resist her charms.

I enjoyed the previous book in this series, and this one was just as enjoyable, highly layered in action, adventure, and intrigue. Each page offers something new and exciting, as we travel to exotic locations and discover strange cultures. We also see the darker side of these locations. A truly remarkable read.
