Author Olga Herrera has written this book as a one-day snapshot, based on her family’s story of her grandmother cooking during the battle. Although it’s about the Cuban Revolution’s 1958 battle of Santa Clara, that’s only mentioned in the backmatter. However, the art does include tanks and military aircraft. This book will resonate with any child who’s in a scary situation yet surrounded by caring family. It’s a reminder to stay calm and do what you can to comfort those around you. For ages 6-10.
