    I would really love to read more foreign language historical fiction. As you suggest, Lucinda, there are cultural differences and national perspectives that would be fascinating to explore. Listening to a podcast with Wu Ming shows some of the distance (http://www.theguardian.com/books/audio/2013/jul/19/rebecca-miller-wu-ming-history-podcast). I’d love to see more translations of non-’literary’ historicals. There have been a couple of breakouts (eg. Manfredi and Jacq) but I am sure there are many others awaiting wide anglophone readership – perhaps an hf sub-genre to match the Scandinavian crime sub-genre.
