Miss Dimple Rallies to the Cause

Written by Mignon Ballard
Review by Rebecca Cochran

The stalwart Miss Dimple Kilpatrick is back again in this second charming mystery series. This time it’s 1943, and the residents of Elderberry, Georgia are doing everything they can to “do their bit” to help the war effort, including holding a rally with parade and pageant. But when a skeleton is found, and a local townsperson goes missing – along with the rally money – Miss Dimple knows something must be done. The whole town vibrates with character, color, and Southern charm in this delightful story as Miss Dimple attempts to unravel the mysterious goings-on in Elderberry.

Warm, inviting, and pleasant, this novel really lets you cozy up for a great read. Ballard does a wonderful job of mixing historical details, mysterious events, and the struggles of war to create a delightful tale with captivating characters. I’m not sure what I liked more- trying to solve the murder, or reading about the townsfolk’s struggles as they cope with a war-torn world.
