ABOUT OUR ARTICLES
Features, Interviews & More
The Historical Novel Society publishes a variety of articles in both its print magazine, Historical Novels Review, and directly to its website. All of these are original pieces, commissioned by the Society's Features Editors on topics the Society's editorial team selects, and written to certain specifications. These articles include features on historical topics and the writing process, interviews with HF authors, explorations of HF novels and subgenres, guides, and regular columns, such as Historical Fiction Market News, History & Film, Ask the Agent, and others.
How to Contribute
In general, the Society does not accept unsolicited article submissions. The majority of our articles are written by Society members who have passed a vetting process in order to be added to the contributor team managed by the Features Editors. All Features contributors are unpaid volunteers. If you are interested in learning more about becoming a member of the Features contributor team, please Contact Us.
Launch Interviews
While the majority of article content is commissioned by the Society, the HNS does offer sponsored interviews, timed to coincide with new book launches and assist with publication promotion. These sponsored interviews can be requested by an author or publicist/publisher. You can learn more about launch interviews here.
