Lady Emily Southwell, Miss Priscilla Tate and the Misses Ariadne and Daphne Cordebas have been inseparable friends at the Barnsley School for Young Ladies. They call themselves La Petite Four, and they expect to take London by storm during their debut into society at Emily’s come-out ball. The only problem is they must first save Emily from an arranged marriage. In order to do so, they must solve a few mysteries. Before long it is obvious that La Petite Four is a force to be reckoned with!

Regina Scott, author of numerous adult romance novels, has written this early 19th-century romance novel for young adults. Although her teen characters are fun, quirky and entertaining, they are not well developed. Ms. Scott has an excellent plot and four potentially interesting, mischievous characters. Unfortunately, the story moves along too quickly, and the audience does not get to know the characters well enough to be engaged. The novel is lightly entertaining, but lacks the depth of Ms. Scott’s adult romance novels.
