Though the United States remained neutral early in World War I, they sent munitions and supplies to fortify the Allies. The Germans responded by putting together a team of saboteurs right on American soil. Led by a brilliant spymaster, this team – which included an assassin, a forger, a chemist, an engineer, and a bacteriologist – would target the ships waiting to sail from East Coast ports, as well as the livestock and munitions they carried.
New York City police inspector Tom Tunney is the head of the department’s bomb squad. He’s a thoughtful, thorough man, not afraid to try a new technique or an undercover assignment to get results. He’s the perfect man to put a stop to this clandestine team, the likes of which had not been seen on U.S. soil before.
This is high-stakes history, told in a compelling narrative style that switches between the viewpoints of the saboteurs and the persistent Inspector Tunney. Their deadly cat-and-mouse game keeps the reader on seat’s edge. A film based on Dark Invasion is in the works and I know it’ll be a thrilling one. Recommended.
