Death at Glamis Castle

Review by Kathy King

This is the latest Robin Paige Victorian mystery, with Lord Charles Sheridan and his wife Kate solving the crime. A murder takes place near Glamis Castle in the late 1890s which leads to a discovery that a member of the Royal family – Prince Eddy, thought long dead – is still alive. Lord and Lady Sheridan are summoned by King Edward to Scotland to find Prince Eddy, who has been accused of the murder and is now missing. The people of the quaint village of Glamis are also suspects in the murder. The villagers add a unique glimpse into Scottish life at the turn of the century. Paige also weaves old tales of Glamis Castle into the story that enhances the mystery’s atmosphere. Paige’s characters have little depth but are enjoyable. The mystery is not complex, and readers will solve it with no difficulty. I enjoyed the story as a quick and easy read.
