Now Beth is determined to best Sheridan in finding the treasure Rupert left for his island bride. But Sheridan, instantly won by the firm-minded and lovely Beth, wants to be her partner, not her rival, and wins her trust by helping her decipher clues, evade the villainous Nigel Scofield, and claim the prize.
While the clues to the buried treasure are somewhat labored, the relationship unfolds in sweet, believable terms as Sheridan shows his worth and stubborn Beth learns to rely on the help of others. The prose is supple and the elements of faith organic to the characters’ growth. Though secondary characters including the betrayed maid Senara consistently steal the scene, the book is an enjoyable, satisfying read in a breathtaking setting that delights.
