Titans of History
In his introduction the author states that Titans of History is a collection of short biographies of people who have each somehow changed the course of world events, and he acknowledges that the list is entirely subjective. Although as individual readers may we raise our eyebrows at the inclusion of some of the entries, it is difficult to disagree with this premise. The selection ranges from ancient to modern—from Nebuchadnezzar II, through to Osama Bin Laden—famous and infamous, good and evil. Each entry is short, just two or three pages, but it is enough to give the reader a picture of each person and their impact, both then and now.
This is a fascinating read which can be dipped into and enjoyed. It provides a useful and informative introduction to a vast array of historical and modern characters, while providing a springboard for further reading. This is a book to be kept on the coffee table to be enjoyed by readers of all interests. You don’t need to be a history fan to enjoy this book. Pour a cup of your favourite beverage, sit down and enjoy. Recommended.
