Promises of the Runes

Courtenay is without a doubt the Queen of Viking Romance. Along with several other time-slip romances, Courtenay has now written five books in the Runes series, and in this latest installment, Ivar, foster brother of Linnea and Madison, takes centre stage as he uses an amulet to try to track down an ancestor: the warrior Thorald.

However, as he travels through time he has a vision of a beautiful woman with red-gold hair calling out for help. Now he has another quest to fulfill beyond expanding his knowledge of Viking culture and improving his skills as an archaeologist – and it will take every ounce of his skill and bravery to see it through. This is a fast-paced adventure featuring some real Norse history, wonderful characters, fantastic storytelling and superb historical research. Courtenay makes you feel the cold, taste the food and breathe the air of her characters. A must-read for fans of Diana Gabaldon, Nicola Cornick and Kate Ryder.
