Hood
Isabelle has lived a quiet life in the Abbey of Kirklees under the watchful eye of her mother, Abbess Marien. When defending a villager from the sheriff’s thugs lands her in a prison cell, Isabelle finds that she has inadvertently set in motion a chain of events that will sweep her, her mother, and her unsuspecting father off their feet. Isabelle sets out to join the mythical Merry Men, seeking aid from Robin Hood to set things right and back to normal. But life in Sherwood Forest isn’t always what it seems, and while Isabelle is learning more about other people and life outside of Kirklees, she has to come to terms with what she learns about herself as well.
Danger and opportunity run hand-in-hand in Moke’s take on the next generation of Sherwood Forest’s most famous residents. Isabelle is brave, clever, and talented without sacrificing the eternal coming-of-age angst and self-doubt that both serve to bring her off the page. The Merry Men of yore did not disappoint, while Moke’s expansion into the next generation and other additions made for a fun cast of characters to spend time with.
