Texas Panhandle, 1900. Sam Legend Jr., devastated by the death of his wife, has distanced himself from his family, has left the Texas Rangers, and is learning a new trade as a bladesmith. He wants to live quietly and alone with his guilt and memories. Then Cheyenne Ronan breaks into his home, attacking him in his sleep. Suddenly, Sam finds himself helping the Texas Rangers on a manhunt, exchanging embraces with Cheyenne, and looking forward to Christmas. Is he ready to move on? Can an old enemy stop him?

This Western romance with themes of new beginnings and the unwavering support of friends and family is Book 2 in the Lone Star Legends Series. It can be read as a standalone. The description of the Texas Panhandle at that time is well done. The relationship between Sam and Cheyenne is passionate and believable, and the way they each fight their past demons is touching. Christmas celebrations of that era abound and include a tumbleweed Christmas tree, popcorn strands, a Christmas play, and hot cocoa. The “villain” is very well written, and the ending contains a twist and a surprise. Recommended for fans of historical holiday romances.
