This story gives an accurate, chilling account of Culloden and its aftermath. The battle destroyed any hope of putting “Bonnie Prince Charlie” on the throne of England, and repercussions against the Scottish rebels were savage. Annie’s healing skills are true to the times, although her patients would have suffered shock and sepsis under her well-meant, primitive techniques.
The lighthearted title and spicy romance seem a little frivolous juxtaposed with wartime tragedy and peril. Still, this multi-published author knows how to keep readers’ eyes on the page. Fans of Highland romance who like braw lads in kilts will enjoy this one.
