Robert B. Parker’s Revelation
Near the turn of the 19th century, U.S. Marshals Virgil Cole and Everett Hitch live in Appaloosa, located near the Rio Blanco River west of the Mississippi. They learn by telegraph of a jailbreak at the Cibola Penal Institution about 200 miles from Appaloosa, and of a shootout in the town of Yaqui that may be related to the prison break. Both soon saddle up and head west to try and capture several of the outlaws and then hook up with the posse.
Unbeknownst to them, Augustus Nobel Driggs and a young woman arrive in Appaloosa. A cold-blooded killer, Driggs is on a secret mission. Meanwhile, the marshals are after another of the escapees, a ruthless killer who leaves murder and mutilation in his path.
This novel written is the latest in the continuing series created by Robert B. Parker, who died in 2010. The rapid-fire dialog and quick-paced action again dominate the story. The main characters continue to be entertaining, while the outlaws seem to have become even nastier in this novel. A good read for those interested in fast-paced westerns.
