Miss Molly Robbins Designs a Seduction
Miss Molly Robbins has a quiet exterior, a grim mouth, and a determination to be in control of her life. That’s why she walked out on her groom just before their nuptials and high-tailed it to London to see her former employer, Carver Danforth, Earl of Everscham. Molly hopes to get a loan from the Earl to start her own business as a seamstress. The loan is secured by contract with a paragraph stating “No Tomfoolery” by which Molly thinks to keep their relationship on a business-only basis. Unfortunately, she spelt it “Tom Follerie,” thereby giving the Earl an out. The Earl has a certain reputation with women as a wicked lover, a love-them-and-leave-them sort determined not to marry, and his persistent pursuit of Molly surprises himself the most.
Fresina has turned a standard historical romance plot into a clever, witty novel of social reform in the wicked city of London. There are many twists and turns in the plot. Nothing appears to be what it seems. Interesting and endearing subsidiary characters enrich the story.
