Forthcoming Historical Novels

The Historical Novel Society has been tracking forthcoming historical novels for many years.  These lists of historical fiction titles are based on publishers’ catalogs, publisher home pages, Publishers Weekly forecasts, Amazon, and information supplied by authors. Titles and dates are subject to change.

We list upcoming mainstream and small press titles set in the 1960s and earlier. Details for the adult fiction lists are compiled by Fiona Sheppard and Sarah Johnson (US) and Sarah Cuthbertson (UK). The children’s/YA lists are compiled by Fiona Sheppard.

The current lists for 2019 and for 2018 are works in progress, and previous lists from 2017 from 2016, from 2015, from 2014, from 2013 and from 2012 can also be found here.
