Bio: Shelly Sanders is the author of The Night Sparrow, coming spring, 2025 from HarperCollins, as well as the Canadian Bestseller, Daughters of the Occupation (HarperCollins), which received a Kirkus Starred Review. She has also written an Historical Fiction Trilogy, Rachel's Secret, Rachel's Promise, Rachel's Hope (Second Story Press), inspired by her grandmother's escape from a Russian pogrom. Shelly graduated from the University of Waterloo with a degree in English Literature and Ryerson University with a graduate degree in journalism. Prior to writing historical fiction, Shelly was a Canadian journalist for national publications including the Toronto Star, National Post, Maclean's magazine, Reader's Digest, and Canadian Living. Her fiction is inspired by her Russian-Jewish ancestry, and she is especially drawn to untold stories about women who changed history.
