Bio: Paula Martinac is the author of seven novels, including most recently Testimony (2021) and Dear Miss Cushman (2021), both reviewed in HNR. Clio Rising (2019) was a Gold Medalist, Northeast Region, 2020 Independent Publisher Book Awards. Her novel-in-stories, The Ada Decades, was a finalist for both the 2018 Ferro-Grumley Award in LGBTQ Fiction and the Goldie Awards in historical fiction—and was an HNS Editor's Pick in August 2017. Out of Time, her debut novel, won a Lambda Literary Award. Her seventh novel, Dear Miss Cushman, is forthcoming from Bywater Books in December, 2021. She has received fellowships from North Carolina Arts Council and the Arts and Science Council of Charlotte-Mecklenburg and in 2023 won the William F. Deeck-Malice Domestic Grant for her unpublished historical mystery novel. She teaches fiction writing at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte, and is the Community Coordinator for Charlotte Center for Literary Arts.
