Bio: I am a St. Louis, MO, native, born in 1954. Initially, I worked in photography, both behind the camera and in the lab. A lifelong reader, I began writing in high school and never stopped, finally having the courage (or temerity) to try it professionally in the 1980s. After attending the Clarion Science Fiction Workshop in 1988, I began selling short fiction regularly, and to date I have sold 78 stories. I began selling novels in 2000 and now have 13 books to my credit. Although my first interest was science fiction, I have a deep love of history and over time have moved closer to writing historical fiction. In 2023 my first historical novel appeared, Granger's Crossing, set long the Mississippi in the 1780s. I believe in significant ways, historical fiction and science fiction share a great deal.
