Bio: I'm the author of MODERN GIRLS (NAL/Penguin), a Depression-era novel that takes place in the Jewish community of the Lower East Side, where an immigrant mother and her unmarried daughter both find themselves pregnant and forced to make impossible choices that will challenge their beliefs, betray their traditions, and upset the very world they live in. My fiction, articles, and essays have appeared in numerous publications including the Southeast Review, the Bellevue Literary Review, and The Best Women’s Travel Writing. I have a BFA in filmmaking from NYU and an MFA in creative writing from the University of Washington. Currently I live and write in the suburbs of Boston.
