Bio: After retirement from his job as Avon County Solicitor on health grounds, John took up research into his family's history, which led to an interest in the social history of his home town of South Shields. He has made a niche for himself writing 'faction'. fiction based on fact, with stories of ordinary folk in the Tyneside Port of South Shields. The Tales of Old Shields Trilogy: The Five Stone Steps, Blitz PAMS and A Chill Wind off the Tyne gives the history or the folk of Shields from 1900 to 1940. He Wears a Blue Bonnet goes back in time to the 1650s and describes how survivors of the Dunbar Death March worked in the salt pans of Shields.
