Bio: A new member of HNS, J.C. Kato is recipient of the IBPA Book Award (Ben Franklin) for best Young Reader novel of 2022 for the historical fiction, Finding Moon Rabbit, with two more historical fictions for young readers to be published by Reycraft Books in 2025 and 2026. She lives in the Tampa Bay area of Florida with her family and floofy, Ewokie-looking dog, Poppet. The highlight of publishing my first historical fiction novel is that my co-author daughter, Jenny, and I did it together. Finding Moon Rabbit isn't just a novel about a girl overcoming life in a World War II concentration camp in Wyoming, but also about mothers and daughters who keep a community going in spite of hardship. Since then, I’ve received a double book deal with Reycraft Books for two more historical fictions for 2025 and 2026. Both books parallel the lives of titanic historical figures like Ulysses Grant and the Emperor of Japan—Herman Melville and John Manjiro, showing that all heroes began as kids.
