Bio: Jason Monaghan believes that a sense of time and place is crucial to a historical novel. Blackshirt Masquerade is the first of his Department Z series of thrillers set in 1930s Britain under the shadow of fascism. It is published by the Historia imprint of Level Best Books in the USA. Jason was born in a Yorkshire village from a line of miners and steelworkers gained a PhD from the London Institute of Archaeology, and worked on various excavations and shipwreck projects in Europe. His career has taken unexpected twists including spells as an anti-money laundering specialist, bank director and ultimately Director of Guernsey Museums. Archaeology provided the background for five light thrillers featuring offbeat lecturer Jeffrey Flint, published by Lume Books. Glint of Light on Broken Glass is a tale of a Guernsey family during the Great War. Jason is the author of textbooks and non-fiction books and usually has at least one writing project in progress.
