Chloe Turner
Bio: Blue Hawk, published July 2024 (Deixis Press) is Chloe Turner's first historical novel. Set in mid-17th century rural Gloucestershire, at the height of the Stroudwater woollen industry, the novel tells the story of a weaver’s daughter with a fascination for colour, who defies deep-rooted custom and personal tragedy to forge a place for herself in the dyeing business. The plot is inspired by a number of real-life stories and story fragments from the period, and touches on themes of sisterhood, friendship & betrayal, and displacement, set in a time of great social change. Described by the Irish Independent as “Evocative and atmospheric, the language is stunning yet simple and the story is beautifully wrought.” More reviews here and here, and a lovely write up from HNS member Katherine Mezzacappa on Blue Hawk here. Blue Hawk is available in hardback from the publisher, Deixis Press, and in paperback from Amazon.
