Bio: I was born in Sunderland, England. An avid reader, I also discovered the joy of history at an early age. A last-minute change of heart, in the sixth form, caused me to alter my university application form. Instead of English, I read Modern and Ancient History at Sheffield University. It was a decision I never regretted. I taught History and Classical Civilisation to 16-19 year olds. With my children having long flown the nest, I am now able to pursue my love of writing and story-telling. I have a passion for hiking, and dancing, the perfect antidotes to long hours of historical research and writing, as well as for travel and, wherever possible, I walk in the footsteps of my characters. My third novel 'Beyond The Shetland Sea' a dual-timeline narrative, set in nineteenth century and present-day Shetland and Canada, came out in January 2024. This follows my debut novel 'Secret Lives' 2016. My second novel 'Discovery' was published in 2020.
