Bio: August 2024: CALL OF THE REDBIRD is a Semi-Finalist, Novel Category, 2023-24 William Faulkner - William Wisdom Creative Writing Competition, sponsored by Pirate's Alley Faulkner Society, New Orleans, LA. March 2024: I submitted the first chapter of my current project to the North Carolina Writers’ Network 2024 Thomas Wolfe Fiction Prize: “Though your entry did not win this year’s contest, we did want you to know that it was one of the few finalists chosen, an honor in and of itself.” I am currently seeking representation for my historical fiction novel, “CALL OF THE REDBIRD.” Sixteen-year-old Rowan O’Clanahan transforms into a Confederate soldier convinced, through her gift of Knowing, that she must save her brother when he returns to the Civil War. I am a native of western North Carolina living under the rim of the Blue Ridge Parkway. I love history, writing, time with family, reading, and traveling.
