Lights along the River

Lights Along the River is a beautifully illustrated book that recounts the day in 1952 when the author’s hometown of Britt, Ontario, received electricity. The book portrays daily life in a small village and captures Lamondin’s joy growing up in a large Métis family.

As my eight-year-old read the book to me, we chatted about the new technologies I have witnessed and how they changed the world. The book serves as a great reminder to prioritize family and the outdoors, no matter what innovations come our way. I highly recommend it for children ages six and up.
