A Healer’s Promise (Brides of Laurent)

Book Two: Brides of Laurent. In February 1815, Levi Masters arrives at a hidden cave village in the Canadian Rockies. He fought for Britain during the War of 1812 and is tracking a former American soldier who might have military secrets useful to the British in a future war. The cave village, founded years ago by disgruntled settlers from New France, supports the United States. Beautiful, young Audrey Moreau is the village healer. Dismayed that outsider Levi might be harmed by the village council, she helps him escape. He is injured, and in the harsh winter weather, she hides in a mountain cave with him and provides care. The religious twosome relies on prayer and faith for their strength. Falling in love, they return to the village, where Levi continues to recover. Suspense builds as they wait for potential punishment.

Readers of sweet, Christian romance might like this story.  Be advised that the historical backdrop is heavily fictionalized. As the author states in an online interview for her publisher, the U.S. never sought uranium ore during the War of 1812, and the hidden cave village is a creative invention.
