A Relentless Rake (Lords of the Armory, 4)

Written by Anna Harrington
Review by Misty Urban

Harrington pours on the sizzle in a dashing tale where fighting an underground criminal group brings together a deceptive earl and a schoolmistress not as proper as she seems.

Olivia hides the errors of her youth behind her role as prim, rule-abiding headmistress of the Everett School. She also hides her architectural smarts behind her brother Henry. But when Henry is implicated in an assassination attempt, rakish Alexander Sinclair, Earl of St. James, is instructed by the Home Office to extract information from Olivia. Alec relishes maneuvering Olivia into compromising situations, bewitched by her quick mind as much as her beauty. And while Olivia is convinced of Henry’s innocence, Alec’s mouth-watering combination of polished nobleman by day, dashing crime-fighter by night, and all-around accomplished seducer awakens the desires she’s tried to disguise.

The story moves nimbly along, balancing plotting with passion as Alec’s assignment provides opportunity for increasingly sensual encounters between the leads. The sexual tension crackles as they torment, tempt, and ultimately learn to trust one another, pushing boundaries and baring hidden truths. Harrington builds the smolder to an explosive but satisfying finale and a nice setup for the next book, sure to be packed with drama and thrills.
