Sometimes a Rogue
Sarah Clarke-Townsend, out for a drive with her pregnant twin, Mariah, the Duchess of Ashton, overhears men plotting to kidnap a duchess. Quick-thinking Sarah hides Mariah, who is close to delivery, so that the men, unaware there are twins, take the wrong sister. Police agent Rob Carmichael, an experienced finder and family friend, volunteers to go after the missing woman. He tracks Sarah to Ireland, where he frees her from the band of revolutionaries who are holding her for ransom. Impressed by each other on the perilous trip home, Sarah and Rob could be falling in love, but it is unthinkable for the sister of a duchess to marry a lowly policeman. Once back in England, however, Rob’s prospects change dramatically – but he cannot marry a penniless young woman like Sarah without a title. Putney is a master at erecting barriers and tearing them down for reasons that have little to do with love. Your head may spin. But every change of heart edges the couple toward the expected ending.
