Come Back To Me
Dragon Hakonson, one of the most feared Vikings to come of out the Northlands, has made his peace with Saxon England’s King Alfred. To seal that peace, he has agreed to an arranged marriage with a Saxon bride. With only a short time remaining until his upcoming wedding, Dragon arranges a short getaway into the English countryside for a short respite at a lodge. Shortly after his arrival there, Dragon encounters someone in the woods who appears to be a young boy, and who, upon seeing him, quickly flees … with Dragon in hot pursuit.
To say more at this point would involve revealing portions of what I found to be a very thin plot by the time all was said and done. In all, I found this novel to be just one more predictable formula romance with a smidgen of history thrown in here and there amongst the bedroom scenes. Compared to what I consider genuinely good historical romance, such as Joan Wolf’s The Edge of Light (set in the same era), this novel is nothing to write home about.
