The main character of Copperstone’s fast-paced, engaging novel set in Massachusetts Colony convulsed in the American Revolution is Jerusha Lovejoy, a plainspoken, strong-willed barmaid who’s imbued by the author with a very endearing fallibility and humanity.
The novel expertly and vividly brings to life the ordinary street details of Colonial America, and this helps to underpin the novel’s otherwise fairly standard historical romance trappings.
Jerusha stumbles (quite literally) into a grizzled but dashing Colonial sea captain who is seen an ample share of action against the British Navy. Copperstone does an excellent job delineating both action and comedic banter, and Bygone Era Books has given it a good paperback edition due to be published in early August 2015.
Recommended for romance readers.
