Bio: William Rose is the author of two novels. His first, The Strange Case of Madeleine Seguin (2016), is set in the late 19th Century and the Fin de Siècle world of Paris, and the narrative interweaves the treatment of hysteria in the Salpêtrière Hospital, with the lives of artists of the time, and the practice of magic in its darkest form. All of these circle, sometimes dangerously, around a young woman, Madeleine, who is the central character of the story. His second novel is Camille and the Raising of Eros (May 2019), a story of three women whose past lives differ greatly. One was a star of the Parisian 'Belle Epoque', another came from a native village in Senegal, and Camille herself from a childhood in which she longed to become a nun. The events in their lives lead all three to join the reclusive and strict order of Carmelite nuns, but their pasts and their passions have not yet been laid to rest. William Rose has worked for many years both in the fields of psychology and of art. He has a particular interest in the history of psychoanalysis, especially its earliest years, and the form of art known as 'Symbolist' that was concurrent with those early formulations of the mind. He lives in London.
