Bio: Marcie Flinchum Atkins is a teacher-librarian by day and a children’s book writer in the wee hours of the morning. She holds an M.A. and M.F.A. in Children’s Literature from Hollins University. She is the author several nonfiction books including Wait, Rest, Pause: Dormancy in Nature (Millbrook Press, 2019), which was one of Kirkus’ Best Picture Books of the Year. Marcie’s poetry has been featured four Pomelo Books anthologies, and in “The Dirigible Balloon.” Her debut historical fiction young adult verse novel, One Step Forward, about the youngest suffragist to be jailed for protesting for the right to vote, is coming in 2025 (HarperCollins/Versify).
