Kathleen Powers-Vermaelen earned her M.F.A. in Creative Writing and Literature at Stony Brook University. Her work has appeared in several literary magazines including MotherVerse, Main Channel Voices, The Southampton Review, East Hampton Star, and in the anthologies The Best of Every Day Fiction Two, Suffolk County Poetry Review 2015 and Bards Annual 2017. She teaches literature and writing at Suffolk County Community College and owns Paumanok Communications, a Long Island-based creative services company. She currently seeks representation for The Devil’s Belt, a novel set on British-occupied Long Island during the American Revolution.
