Jo Chumas is the winner of the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award 2013 Thriller/Suspense category for her political thriller, The Hidden, set in 1919 and 1940s Cairo, Egypt.
She’s a British writer living in Barcelona, Spain. She grew up in Belgium and England, and spent her childhood holidays exploring Europe and North Africa with her parents.
She worked for many years as a journalist in Australia, the United Arab Emirates, and the UK while also writing fiction.
A profound fascination with early twentieth-century Egyptian political and cultural history led her to write The Hidden.
Jo also wrote three versions of another novel After Rafaela, including a thriller version of this title.
She is currently working on a sequel to The Hidden, s spy thriller set in 1967 London, Istanbul and Russia, called The Strange Girl.
