Jeanne Mackin is the author of several historical novels, including The Frenchwoman, Dreams of Empire and The Sweet and By. She also writes historical mysteries under the pen name of Anna Maclean. She teaches creative writing at Goddard College and has given workshops in New York, Pennsylvania and Hawaii. She worked as a journalist for many years and won awards for feature writing.
Jeanne lives in a pre-Civil War farmhouse in upstate New York with her husband and assorted cats. In her imagination, she has inhabited Eleanor’s southern France, Marie Antoinette’s Paris, the spiritualism parlors of the nineteenth century and assorted other locals where the people and events of the times left a strong imprint.
