I am a lifelong sailor, boatbuilder and history nut, retired from a 40 year career in medical laboratories as technologist and manager and now entering my 3rd year of a History PhD at Queen’s University. I am a Councillor on the Board of the Canadian Nautical Research Society and take great pride in having accumulated about 6 weeks of deck time (deckhand, helmsman, cook) aboard Kingston’s famous square-rigged sail training vessel, the brigantine St. Lawrence II. My wife and I live in an 1856 limestone building near the waterfront in Kingston, ON. I am a lifelong admirer of CS Forester, Bernard Cornwell, Wilbur Smith, along with Robertson Davies and Al Purdy.
