Sergeant George Sueño and his partner Sergeant Ernie Bascom, American military policemen in South Korea in the early 1970s, have appeared in several novels, but this is a collection of magazine short stories about them. Not surprisingly, these are tales of black marketeering, betrayal, and murder, against a convincing background of U.S. Army life and a South Korea that is still poor. The economic miracle of modern South Korea is still far in the future. These are tough stories, but well told and absorbing. A good read if you like non-girly books.
