Never Trust a Lady

By

It is 1861, and the Civil War has begun. The South is plotting to win Britain’s support by assassinating one of her prominent political figures and blaming it on the “crazy abolitionists.” Ryder Drake, a Texan rancher, is working with Mr. Pinkerton to uncover the plot and warn the British government of the danger. In order to do this, he needs the help of an influential British citizen. Unfortunately, the only person who fits this description is Lady Eva Sparrow. Mr. Blake does not trust women, especially women as independent and interfering as Lady Eva. This story is a fun read, peopled with prominent historical figures including President Lincoln and Queen Victoria. It has an interesting, entertaining plot with enough adventure and romance to please readers of both.
