Patricia Bracewell’s debut novel “Shadow on the Crown” is set in 11th century England, and is the first book of a trilogy about Emma of Normandy. It will be published in 2013 by Viking/Penguin in the U.S., by HarperCollins in the U.K. and by Sextante in Brazil. Patricia holds degrees in English Literature and has studied Anglo-Saxon History both as an undergrad in the U.S. and as an independent scholar at the University of Cambridge’s Summer Study Program at Downing College. She was born and raised in California, where she taught literature and composition before embarking upon her writing career. She is a member of the International Society of Anglo-Saxonists, a member of the Northern California Chapter of the Historical Novel Society and a charter member of the S.F. Bay Area writers’ organization, Left Coast Writers. She has traveled extensively in Europe, Asia and South America, both for research and for pleasure. She lives with her husband in the San Francisco Bay Area.
