About me

I am the granddaughter of immigrants—one who cast her healing spells with incantations and one who described his love in lyrical, impassioned letters. Their blood is in my veins and I had no choice but to be a writer, a weaver of words. Five of my books are in print, one is in process and several more are simmering in my imagination. I write about the old country and the new, the many ways we love, the tangle and embrace of family, and finding courage and strength in the midst of loss.I have recently completed the first book of a trilogy set in Renaissance Italy and France that focuses on three women who forged a literary path: Vittoria Colonna, Marguerite de Navarre, and Giovanna d’Aragona.
