Kathleen Powers-Vermaelen holds an M.F.A. in Creative Writing and Literature from Stony Brook University. Her short stories and poetry have appeared in Proteus, MotherVerse, Main Channel Voices, The Southampton Review, East Hampton Star, and in the flash fiction anthology The Best of Every Day Fiction Two. She teaches literature and writing for Ashford University online and at Suffolk County Community College, and she owns Paumanok Communications, a Long Island-based creative services company. She currently seeks representation for The Devil’s Belt, a novel set on British-occupied Long Island during the American Revolution.
