About me

Author of historical fiction. My interest is mainly in America in the 1800s to Prohibition. I’m especially enthralled by Five Points after 1845 and Los Angeles during Prohibition — especially how the LAPD colluded with the mayor and local businessmen to protect their bootleg and gambling operations from east coast mobsters.

My first novella, Placing Out, about a boy taken from New York’s Five Points to Nebraska on the Orphan Train who runs away to Hollywood, was published in April of this year.

I’ve had 13 contemporary crime novels published under P.A Brown, most set in Los Angeles.
